Summer courses move fast: a single day covers a lot of ground, so attendance matters more than in a normal term. Students who miss the first day may lose their place.

Why students take it

What a summer credit is usually for

Get ahead

Bank a credit over the summer and carry a lighter timetable into the next school year, or free a slot for a course you actually want.

Upgrade a mark

Repeat a course you have already taken to improve the grade that goes forward to universities and colleges.

Recover a credit

Retake a course you did not pass, in one month rather than waiting a whole semester to sit it again.

Clear a prerequisite

Pick up the course standing between you and a Grade 11 or 12 subject you need for your programme.

What to expect

A month moves quickly

A summer course covers the same Ontario curriculum expectations as a full-length course, in a fraction of the time. That is the whole point of it, and it is also the thing students underestimate. A single missed day is not one lesson behind — it is closer to a week of ordinary term-time teaching.

Students who do well over the summer are the ones who treat it as their main commitment for the month: attending every day, keeping up with the work set between classes, and asking early when something has not landed rather than hoping it will resolve itself. Booking travel in the middle of a session is the most common reason a summer credit goes wrong.

All 43 courses in our catalogue are Ontario curriculum courses, and a credit earned in the summer counts toward the OSSD in exactly the same way as one earned during the year.

Register for a summer session

Registration is open for Term 1, which runs 2 Sep – 11 Nov 2026. Places are limited by class size, and the sessions are short. Earlier is better.
